Urgent!! Danger! New fish tanks!

Welcome to the world of the Siamese Fighting Fish. Free tips about keeping Siamese fighting fish. Lots of Siamese fighting fish news and much much more on Siamese fighting fish, your Home and family pet’s home.

URGENT! DANGER! New fish tanks!

I have had numerous people tell me that their new fish has died, just a few days after bringing them home. These people have asked me if I may have an answer.

Yes I do!

New fish tanks can be very toxic to fish in the beginning. Your new tank has to be ‘cycled’ before you place your new Siamese fighting fish/ Betta fish, Cory Catfish or African Dwarf Frog into the new tank.

Talking to your Siamese fighting fish/ Bettafish

Welcome to the world of the Siamese Fighting Fish. Free tips about keeping Siamese fighting fish. Lots of Siamese fighting fish news and much much more on Siamese fighting fish, your Home and family pet’s home.

Talking to your Siamese Fighting Fish/ Betta Fish. They have ‘Ears’!

I have done some talking and then some to ‘Samurai’ this week I can tell you!

Most people will know how stressful it is when you are having renovations done. Especially when you have to check everything the workers are doing all of the time. They do not seem to listen to you properly and the next thing you find that they have done it wrong or that they have broken something. Then they have to redo it correctly and have wasted your time and money.

I think builders and painters should be on the receiving end, and only then will they realize what it feels like when it happens to them.

Anyway, I have done much cursing and swearing mostly, trying to let ‘Samurai’ our Siamese fighting fish, know how I feel and to get all the stress out. Not at him, but just to have someone who will listen to what I say. ‘Samurai’ seems to sympathize with me, so all is well, thank goodness.

All the work is almost finished and then I can get back to posting more often.

Wonderful companion

Welcome to the world of the Siamese Fighting Fish. Free tips about keeping Siamese fighting fish. Lots of Siamese fighting fish news and much much more on Siamese fighting fish, your Home and family pet’s home.

The African Dwarf Frog that I spoke of earlier makes a great pet for the beginner. It is a good choice if you want a companion for your Siamese fighting fish.

You can feed them 'freeze dried bloodworms.' Buy a package and keep it in the freezer. This can last anything from one to two months.

Remember they search for food by smell not movement!

They can also jump out of your tank, just like your Siamese fighting fish, so keep a lid on with air holes, the same as you would with your Siamese fighting fish.

The temperature should be more or less the same as for your fish.

The African Dwarf Frog is fairly active and can apparently “sing”.
They grow to about 1.5 inches in length. Females are slightly bigger than males.
They are native to Sub Saharan Africa.

Do not confuse them with African Clawed Frogs!! They may eat your Siamese fighting fish!

The KEY to your Success in keeping Siamese Fighting Fish

Welcome to the world of the Siamese Fighting Fish. Free tips about keeping Siamese fighting fish. Lots of Siamese fighting fish news and much much more on Siamese fighting fish, your Home and family pet’s home.

I must go back to the other articles and posts in which I have always suggested that you get your tank set up first. That means have the right placement for your tank, have the right plants for your tank, and make sure the water temperature is perfect. If you are going to have companions for your Siamese fighting fish, then get them before you buy your fish.
Planning everything beforehand is the key to success in keeping your Siamese fighting fish. Do not rush, start slowly and you will be rewarded with a marvelous, wonderful pastime for years to come. They are truly amazing pets.

Grandkids and Siamese fighting fish

Welcome to the world of the Siamese Fighting Fish. Free tips about keeping Siamese fighting fish. Lots of Siamese fighting fish news and much much more on Siamese fighting fish, your Home and family pet’s home.

Wow! The grandkids were over for the weekend and there was much excitement for us as well as 'SAMURAI'. He loves to see new faces and there was much interaction. They are fascinated with him and spent hours watching him swim up and down and doing his tricks.

Too soon it was all over and then the worry about this week and the painters again. Not much time to write posts.

Stress and relaxing with your Siamese fighting fish.

Welcome to the world of the Siamese Fighting Fish. Free tips about keeping Siamese fighting fish. Lots of Siamese fighting fish news and much much more on Siamese fighting fish, your Home and family pet’s home.

Well, I must tell you that the last week has been very stressful here. We have had builders, painters and all sorts busy with an upgrade to our building. They have had to cope with lousy weather, rain and more rain everyday, not that I complain about the rain, but when you need them to paint and it's mostly on the outside, then you have problems. It's nothing but stop start all the time. Things just cannot get done. Now they have to come back again the whole of next week and maybe longer.

Trying to take time off everyday to supervise is very stressful. This is where my little Siamese fighting fish, 'Samurai' comes in very handy. Just to sit down at the end of the day and say 'hello' to him and to watch him swim up to the window also saying 'hello' washes away all the stress of the day. I told you in my first article how relaxing it would be to have your Siamese fighting fish/ Betta fish to come home to. He has improved our quality of life.

I will be letting you know of further developments on the building.

Fascinating facts about your Siamese fighting fish

Welcome to the world of the Siamese Fighting Fish. Free tips about keeping Siamese fighting fish. Lots of Siamese fighting fish news and much much more on Siamese fighting fish, your Home and family pet’s home.

We often watch our ‘SAMURAI’ after hours or late at night and we noticed that he yawns at night. He opens his mouth and makes the same yawning motions that we do.
Our ‘SAMURAI’ then seems to lounge and then go to sleep. Yes, he goes to sleep.
Do you know that all living animals must sleep to survive! With fish, they tend to float, slow down or hover in one spot and look like they are dead.
Tropical fish, like the Siamese fighting fish, seem to have the same sleep cycle as humans. They sleep at night and move around during the day.

If you have a Siamese fighting fish or Betta fish as they are called in America, then watch carefully at nighttime and you will see them going to sleep, perhaps even a yawn or two beforehand.

Bronze Catfish as Siamese Fighter Companion

Welcome to the world of the Siamese Fighting Fish. Free tips about keeping Siamese fighting fish. Lots of Siamese fighting fish news and much much more on Siamese fighting fish, your Home and family pet’s home.

One of the best companions for your Siamese fighting fish seems to be the Bronze Catfish or Corydoras Aeneus. They can be extremely playful, scurrying around the bottom of your tank looking for food. They are very peaceful and should get on well with your Siamese fighting fish.

They come up for air occasionally and are daylight feeders. They live in groups and are highly recommended for beginners that want to keep Bettafish.

Corydoras catfish are native to the Amazon basin in South America, but many are bred in Florida in the U.S.A.

Once you get started with your Siamese fighting fish you will see how quickly you will get infected. If you begin slowly and plan beforehand, you will be rewarded with lots of fun and enjoyment from your Siamese fighting fish for years to come.
